Maria Elena Collazo, Psy.D.

Dr. Collazo graduated at the top of her class from Carlos Albizu
University, San Juan, P.R. with a degree in Clinical Psychology.

At this stage in my career, I consider myself an interior designer or architect of the internal world. As a psychologist, I’ve had the privilege of growing and redefining myself through years of experience and professional development. I am a tool, a safe space, a compass, and a steady hand—guiding individuals to the best version of themselves through empathy and compassion.

In the therapeutic space, I work collaboratively with clients, using a creative and personalized approach. I have found that meaningful, positive change can happen quickly when combining evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with transformative interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These methods help rewrite and reframe personal narratives, offering new, empowering perspectives. With these powerful tools, I help clients swiftly address and overcome the psychological barriers caused by stress, trauma, and life challenges.

I have supported individuals navigating grief, emotional pain, health issues, trauma, fears, life transitions, and adversity. My goal is to help people not only heal but also thrive, ultimately improving their quality of life and overall well-being.

I take pride in working with people from diverse cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Over the past 25+ years, I’ve worked with a broad range of populations, including psychiatric patients, individuals with chronic medical conditions, survivors of sexual abuse, emotionally disturbed children, trauma victims, high-performing professionals, and those seeking to enhance emotional and physical wellness.

I’ve also led workshops on topics such as sexuality and adolescence, emotional intelligence, self-esteem, chronic pain, and stress management. To expand the reach of my work beyond traditional therapy, I created the Reset Yourself Retreat and the Emotion App—a digital platform that integrates my knowledge and experience for broader access and support.

My insights and expertise have been featured on renowned television and radio shows such as Despierta AméricaTrendiandoTu Desayuno Alegre, and Buenos Días América, where I’ve spoken about anxiety, depression, EMDR, trauma, and relationships. In 2024, I was a featured guest on the podcast Executive Burnout: Solutions for C-Suite Stressby O’Leary Partners Observation, a UBS Bank Advisor production.

I hold a degree in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I graduated at the top of my class. My training includes extensive knowledge in neuroscience, somatic psychology, and positive psychology. I have been recognized with the Top Doctor Excellence in Medicine award in both 2023 and 2024.  Also, recognized Influential Women of Florida 2025.  I am a member of the EMDR International Association and have been included in Cambridge Who’s Who Among Executive and Professional Women Psychologists and Who’s Who Among American Students.

My guiding phrase: You live, you learn, and you grow.

“Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy
to your dreams as you do to your fears”
